Soccer camp, Camp Meeting, Women of Faith, Mansfield Inner city & a One-a-thon

July 13 began a busy week for all involved with Victory Summer camp.

First, I headed down to Mount Vernon Ohio for district assembly and campmeeting for North Central Ohio District Church of the Nazarene. There was an awesome video clip at the Monday night service showing the Kingdom building in action by our compassionate ministries and newstarts through out the district. The District relaunched into Mansfield inner city not only with an offering that night but also a special day of service on Friday. Have a work team that needs something to do? Check out Mansfield Inner City by downloading a flyer with contact info!

On Tuesday, the Victory Summer camp kids along with Miss Katie & Elizabeth began their week of heading off to Scranton Road Bible and learning the skills of soccer from 10 am to 3 pm, everyday! Check out all the soccer pics at the picasa album!

Women of Faith heard Pastor Andy on the radio and came down to visit Heaventrain on July 11 during the awful rainstorm. They were so touched by the ministry that the provided Lighthouse Inc with free tickets for volunteers and Heaventrain moms to a GRAND NEW DAY on July 17-18.

One-a-thon is a fundraiser for Victory One, the compassionate ministries arm of Cleveland Victory Nazarene. Walk and pray the streets of Cleveland victory and get donors to sponsor you for each mile you walk. Not only will some needed fiances flow into the ministry but image what the Lord can do with the prayer! Contact Pastor Jacob or Pastor Sam for more information or a pledge sheet.

Don't forget to join the offical Facebook Fan page of Heaventrain! Invite your friends! Interact with other fans! Spread the word!

The Family of God

Pastors from all over headed toward Orlando Florida for the 27th General Assembly and Convention for the International church of the Nazarene. This occurred from June 21 through July 3.

Two days went by with no problems and no Pastor Jacob. Then the third day hit. The Victory van breaks down. Something wrong with the catalytic converter. What do we do now? No van and the kids can't get to church. The family of God to the rescue.

North Royalton State Road Community lends us their red van and we have it until July 3. That's okay Pastor Jacob should be back and help us figure out what to do.

Oh no! Pastor Jacob doesn't come back until July 7 !!! He directs us to Mike Pelley, a board member for Cleveland Victory but they don't arrive home from Florida until Sat July 4, late. Off to church Mike goes on July 5 and guess what the new van sitting in his driveway won't be ready until Tuesday--no plates. What do we do for Monday?

The family of God to the rescue! Again! Bedford Church of the Nazarene sends their 17 passenger shuttle and Mr. Ries, a BedNaz member and CDL certified down to Victory to pick up the kids and returns at 12:30 pm to take them home. No air conditioning? Guess what the kids didn't care and in the words of Miss Katie, our normal van driver, " Air conditioning? We would never have gotten those kids out of the van!"

Praise the Lord for family!

Our Community

Each day two to three van loads of kids come for a day at Victory Summer camp. Why do we need to tranpsort them by van, you ask? View the video below produced by Pastors Jacob and Sam and see for yourself.

Prayer & Praises!!

  • Praise the Lord--Dena's church heard about our program, saw the kids pictures and donated some money to the cause.
  • Praise the Lord--State Road Community gracious use of their van. Last Wednesday, Victory's white van stopped functioning on Miss Katie and Pastor Jacob is on vacation.
  • Praise the Lord!! We passed our first inspection by the governor's office and we were one of several organizations that did NOT get the 2010 funding cut.
  • Pray for Pastor Jacob and Amber and Pastor Sam and Jamie as they finish up their relaxing vacation and that they have safe traveling mercies as they drive home with three preschoolers in the car.
  • Pray for the necessary donations for our kids to attend a summer camp--July 13 through 17 as well as transportation to and from the camp for a potential 30 kids. If you or you know someone who is interested in supporting this with a donation, it is tax deductible. Make checks out to Lighthouse, Inc. but write in the memo line--Victory Summer Camp. Mail the check to Victory Summer camp at 1632 E.55th St., Cleveland, OH 44103.
  • Pray for our children, especially Timothy and Mike. For the younger kids(k-3), these two have an attitude of one my tough 9th grade kids. Pray for the Lord's wisdom as we work with these two to get along with others, stop hitting others, use nice words, listen and to obey.
  • Pray for Pastor Andy as he works with the organization, "Women of Faith". Several opportunities such as free tickets for Heaven Train moms to attend the conference, to possible highlight of Heaven Train ministries during the conference are possible. May the Lord be glorified!

Summer Camp Begins!

Monday, June 15; marked the first day of summer camp for the three out of eight Summer feeding sites sponsored by Lighthouse, Inc. through funds from the Ohio Department of Education.

At each of the feeding sites, the kids who are enrolled also enjoy a time of enrichment and recreation too. Funds for these enrichment activities came from the Governor’s Office of Faith-Based and
Community Initiatives

The three sites are :

Each site has a site coordinator, teaching assistant and aide. I am a volunteer at the Cle
veland Victory site.

At the Victory site on the first day we had 9 kids as today we are up to 20 kids and two new requests came in today! 25 was our goal!
The kids range in age from kindergarten to 7th grade and there are times when it feels like we are back in the one room schoolhouse typical of the "Little House on the Prairie".

Continue to pray for each kid to feel welcome and loved by all.
